Fathers That Work
The Fathers That Work Program was started in July of 1996 as a
collaboration between the Marion County Prosecutor's Office, The Mayor's
Office, and the Indianapolis Private Industry Council (IPIC). At
that time the program name was "Job or Jail". The program consists
of direct job placement, job training/readiness, and community service.
IPIC assisted the program by establishing employers. The Mayor's
Office provided the community service, and the Prosecutor's Office
administered the program.
In 1998 the Prosecutor's Office received approval for the City County
council for an enhancement package for the program. Through this
enhancement package Mediation Services where provided to IV-D clients
desirous of this assistance. Also additional referral specialist
were hired for the Father That Work Program. The money was also
used to fund some additional enforcement services.
